body in trouble by Nancy Mairs

Nancy Mairs talks about how physical disability affects one's point of view in life. Nancy brings up biblical history to prove a connection between normal and being disabled. She brings her own life examples when she was in a wheel chair and could barely see our face. She states that "good woman", a term used to describe a women. She questions herself, " am I a good woman"? " Am I good for nothing"? She compares good for nothing to sex, being able to stand, her arms dying, unable to do simple tasks such as eating. Nancy states its difficult to love the world but I am not alone.

So basically Gloria goes into depth  about how her language is different from Latinos , Mexicans , Spanish and English. Its called Chicano Spanish. Gloria talks about, when she was in school she was told if you don't want to speak English or learn English then go back to mexico. Spanish wasn't allowed in school. When Gloria spoke her native tongue other ethic groups made fun of her and told her that the language she spoke was for not smart, noneducational people. Gloria battle against the bullying and realized why woman stopped speaking the native tongue because of the Latinos who are purist. Gloria also brings examples, history of the Chicano and where their language originated. Chicano s name and identities continues to fight for what is right.

James Baldwin talks about how language is evolved by humans to describe and control certain circumstances. Also language is used a as a political tool , means and power . Baldwin compares American history to England history. He says that just because you have a different skin color or speak in a different language, You should not penalized for speaking different or pronouncing differently but work together has one, A European example is a  A language comes into existence by means of brutal necessity, and the rules of the language are dictated by what the language must be.
